January 1, 2005, began the first day of this year's legislative session. And as you will see in our legislative and newsletter links, we are grateful to anounce the assistance of Senator Charles Starr and his assistant, Ken McDermott,Sen. Bruce Starr,and Representatives Kim Thatcher, Linda Flores, Mac Sumner, and Brian Boquist, who will be shepherding HB2809 through legislation. Please visit the Newsletter link for frequent updates.
Any bill that passes during legislation year will be in effect Jan of the following year.
As you may know, Oregon has legislation sessions every other odd year, and rests every other even year.
As part of our home page I will say that our main task as Choose Life Oregon is to utilize our state program that offers fund-raising abilities to qualifying charitable organizations to have custom license plates created by the state and sold to motorists upon license plate renewal.
License plate cost will be about $30, in which about $2 each goes back to the state, with the remainder going toward the qualifying organization. Support is very great so we anticipate our quantity of first printing of plates will be a large one. Notice the beautiful green color we chose?)
Our main goal is to raise funds through the sale of custom license plates with proceeds going to non-profit pregnancy centers. Qualified pregnancy centers are those that help birth mothers see the benefit of adoption and offer financial resources free of charge throughout a woman's pregnancy.
